Glenroyd Ladies College has a reputation to protect - and a charred corpse in the grounds. Why was the caretaker murdered? Who wanted him silenced? And why did they set fire to his body? A grisly murder is the last thing Senior Sergeant Cam Fraser needs. He's just returned to the sleepy Australian town of his youth to get over the death of his wife and son in a house blaze. Having to investigate a burnt body brings back all the ghosts, all the agony and grief, and forces him to confront the layers of secrecy and lies in the Outback community he once felt part of. As he digs, Cam realises everyone has something to hide - from the two young school teachers who seem so very close, to the waspish headmistress who'll stop at nothing to prevent a scandal. Then there's Cliff, a man with dangerous friends, who just happens to run the local fire volunteer service... The school has to be the key – but to what?
